This amiable, zen philosophy radiating boutique hostel is surrounded by a verdant garden, juxtaposed between the two main surf breaks of Playa Carmen and Santa Teresa. You can be a beginner surfer or an experienced pro, the waves outside the hotel offer the perfect surfing conditions. Guests can enjoy the spectacular sunsets from the beach at a few minutes walk from their room, or spend the lazy afternoon beneath the shade of a palm tree in the backdrop of the hypnotically clashing sea waves. The ocean is always just a few meters away here, and when it’s time to take a break from the tropical, guests can rest on their relaxing hammocks or sip on a refreshing drink at the rancho.
Casa Zen’s open air treetop yoga deck stimulates the veteran yogi and beginner alike, with daily classes open to all. Their yoga retreats are ongoing and can be personalized to your linking. You can take a rejuvenating morning practice or a more contemplative afternoon session or even a sundown meditative sitting. Their yoga classes and yoga retreats are taught by professional instructors, emphasizing on the Hatha Vinyasa style. They also offer interval training classes, helping to open the lungs with some kick-ass cardio to strengthen every muscle in the body.

All their spacious rooms have been designed with the budget-conscious traveler in mind, offering guests convenience, cleanliness, comfort and a pleasant ambiance at a reasonable price. The hotel offers guests a complimentary healthy breakfast each day, and their primary chef’s kitchen is open all day long if guests are looking to whip up their own meals.
Their guest house offers a variety of options for most traveler types. Whether you are looking for a private room, space for a small group, or a basic bed in a dorm, they have it all covered in a pleasant and comfortable set-up. On the first floor, Casa Zen has six private rooms, perfect for single travelers, couples or friends. The rooms have either a double bed or two single beds. They also have two larger private rooms on the first floor, each with beds for three people. Several shared bathrooms are located on the first floor. The quaint boutique hotel also has a couple of well-equipped communal kitchens, including their signature chef’s kitchen, complete with a professional quality stove, microwave, blenders, and a giant stainless steel refrigerator. The chef’s kitchen is open to guests between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., while a second shared kitchen is available 24 hours.
Upstairs guests will find the apartment plus three additional rooms with varying capacities, featuring exterior doors as well as interior doors leading to the apartment. The apartment itself has a capacity of two people, with a full-sized bed, hot water shower, full kitchen and television with DVD player. The apartment can be rented by itself, or with 1-, 2-, or 3-bedrooms attached, for a maximum capacity of 14 people. When the adjoining rooms are rented independent of the apartment, there is no access between the rooms and apartment.
Their dorm room is also upstairs, which has beds for six people. The room has just three bunk beds, so it’s a small, comfortable dorm compared to many hostels. There’s a safe for each person.

Casa Zen’s helpful, bilingual staff is always ready to help guests plan their tours and activities in the area, including surf lessons, canopy tours, stand up paddle boarding (SUP), visits to nearby waterfalls, fishing, sailing, snorkeling, horseback riding, ATV rentals and more. They can also help you with restaurant recommendations, reservations and travel planning.
